TACLOBAN CITY — The Police Regional Office in Eastern Visayas has a new head.
Brig. General Jay Cumigad was named PRO-8 director, replacing Brig. General Reynaldo Pawid who had been reassigned to the Directorate for Operations at the Philippine National Police headquarters.

Cumigad’s appointment as PRO-8 director took effect on Wednesday, October 9 but his formal assumption ceremony had yet to take place.

Article continues after this advertisementA turnover ceremony, however, was held at Camp Brig General Rafael T. Crame, presided over by PNP Chief, Police Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil.

In his assumption speech, Cumigad expressed optimism about his new role and the responsibilities it entails, particularly regarding public safety for the upcoming national and local elections on May 12, 2025.

In his farewell message, Pawid extended his gratitude to the men and women of PNP-8 for their unwavering support during his tenure.
